Strengthen funding through diverse and sustainable revenue streams to advance our mission and deliver the greatest impact for our community

  • Provide donors with giving opportunities to grow and sustain AFTD’s mission
  • Increase philanthropic revenue from corporations and foundations
  • Promote and support a robust Fundraising Program to engage volunteers
  • Expand AFTD’s Special Events portfolio

Invest in staff growth and retention via professional development, engagement, and wellness opportunities

Expand and activate a dynamic volunteer network to support AFTD’s mission

  • Develop a unified and comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy
  • Improve existing platforms for centralized volunteer tracking, reporting, and communication
  • Develop and implement best practices for volunteer management (e.g. orientation, training, feedback, recognition, and retention)
  • Establish staff and Board training in volunteer engagement
  • Develop activities that create an AFTD volunteer presence and foster community at the local level

Streamline and standardize AFTD’s technology and processes to maximize operational effectiveness

  • Identify what staff need to do their jobs more effectively by addressing key technology and process issues
  • Conduct efficiency assessment for current applications to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement a technology roadmap that includes an assessment of ROI for new/large projects
  • Annually assess AFTD’s risk landscape and implement strategies as needed
  • Explore optimal organizational structure to support cross-functional work and effective mission advancement

Develop metrics to assess organizational impact and effectiveness

  • Create an organization-wide dashboard
  • Identify which metrics to include on dashboard
  • Update metrics on dashboard quarterly

Develop the composition, knowledge, and tools for the AFTD Board to ensure strong, representative, and dynamic governance as the organization continues to evolve and mature

  • Cultivate a broad and robust pipeline of Board candidates
  • Ensure Board members are engaged and find Board service to be rewarding
  • Design and implement a Board education program
