April’s Athlete of the Month: Traci Toone

AFTD’s April Athlete of the Month is Traci Toone from Texas. Traci has walked over 550 miles while using the Charity Miles app in support of AFTD’s mission!
Traci got involved with our Charity Miles initiative in memory of her dad, who passed away on February 1, 2021, six years after being diagnosed with FTD. Traci and her mom shared responsibility as care partners for her dad and were able to care for him at home until his final three weeks of life. Traci shares that “it was through AFTD that my family and I found so much support, guidance, and education through every step: from dad’s diagnosis until his death.”
Traci walks to honor her dad’s memory, and in hopes of hastening the day when no other family has to experience this diagnosis. Traci shares, “When facing a disease as awful as FTD that makes you feel utterly helpless, I was empowered by walking, knowing that it was a way I could contribute: to raise funds to advance AFTD’s mission, to help others now and in the future who find themselves facing an FTD diagnosis, and to honor my dad who always loved to be a helper.”
AFTD wishes to acknowledge Traci for her resilience and thank her for her dedication and contribution to our mission. If you would like to join Traci and the rest of the AFTD-Team, you can download the Charity Miles app today.
Are you interested in creating an AFTD fundraiser, to which your friends and families can donate based on the miles you walk, run, and bike on the app? By creating a pledge page, you can increase your impact and support AFTD’s mission, simply by staying active.
