The AFTD was proud to have ten staff members, and four Board members attend the International Society for FTD Conference (ISFTD) in Amsterdam in late September. This is a premier bi-annual conference convening approximately 800 leading experts in FTD – including researchers, clinicians, drug developers, advocates, and people with lived experience.

The AFTD Programs team convened nonprofit partner groups to find common ways to support FTD families, and clinical care researchers focused on better clinical support. They also presented on genetic counseling resources, supported Caregivers Day, and presented on World FTD Awareness week. The AFTD Research team held meetings with industry partners to advance drug development, convened the next generation of AFTD-funded scientists and mentors, took home learnings from scientific presentations, and presented on the FTD Disorders Registry as a means to advance research. The Research team also held a panel to brainstorm overcoming challenges with clinical trials and met with researchers interested in working with the AFTD. The AFTD Advancement team hosted an AFTD booth and engaged new people interested in participating in the AFTDโ€™s mission. They took note of important information to communicate back to the community, and fostered relationships for fundraising. AFTD Board members provided unique perspectives on advancement at each of these events.

Emma Heming Willis delivered powerful opening remarks for the conference and attended several ISFTD and AFTD events to amplify advocacy and awareness.

The AFTD was a proud Gold Sponsor of this important conference. Learn moreย by visiting the conference website.
