The following text and graphics can help you to share your own FTD story, in light of the Willis family’s statement today.

Today, the family of Bruce Willis announced that he has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, Known as FTD for short, and also known as frontotemporal degeneration, it’s the most common dementia for people under 60.

News like this hits hard. Many of us have seen Bruce Willis’s work, and the beloved characters he’s played reflect someone we can trust and relate to.

This news is personal to me, because (I/someone in my life) (is facing/has faced) FTD. [Include several lines or more about your own/your loved one’s/your family’s experience).

My heart goes out to Bruce Willis and his family. And I’m grateful for them sharing their story. Together, we can move past the stigma and isolation of a dementia diagnosis. Together we can bring an end to this disease. Every FTD story counts.

If you or a loved one are facing unexplained symptoms in behavior, language, or movement, ask a doctor about FTD. I encourage you to find out more about AFTD, a global leader supporting families who face this disease and driving research for a cure.

You can visit AFTD’s website at theaftd.org for more information on how to get an accurate diagnosis. If you’re moved by this story and would like to take action, we also share a list of steps you can take to help all families facing this disease.
