Bruce Willis is stepping away from his acting career after experiencing health issues related to an aphasia diagnosis that is “impacting his cognitive abilities,” his family announced on social media Wednesday.

“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” shared the actor’s daughter, Rumer Willis, in a statement from their family she posted on her Instagrama. “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support.”

At the time of the announcement, the family did not disclose the cause of the 67-year-old actor’s aphasia diagnosis, which affects language capabilities. This CBS News artykuł includes an explanation of how aphasia could potentially impact Willis’ ability to verbally communicate.
