Woody Durham, Iconic Voice of Tar Heel Sports, Dies of FTD

Woody

Woody Durham, the iconic voice of University of North Carolina basketball and football for 40 years, died on March 7 of primary progressive aphasia. He was 76 years old. After he was diagnosed with PPA in early 2016, Durham and his family became vital voices in raising awareness and understanding of this disease. Last fall, Woody’s son Wes Durham, the radio voice of the Atlanta Falcons, told his father’s story as part of AFTD’s Think It’s Alzheimer’s? Think Again awareness campaign.
