“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” Star Jane Levy Talks Potential of Second Season

Zoey tv show

Zoeys extraordinära spellista star Jane Levy spoke to the potential of a second season and moving forward after loss in an interview on the Los Angeles Times TV podcast, “Can’t Stop Watching.”

The first season of the new NBC show, which wrapped earlier this month, follows a young woman named Zoey who discovers she can hear the innermost thoughts of people around her as songs and musical numbers. The season ended with the death of her father, Mitch, who had progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

Levy speaks to “Can’t Stop Watching” about her experience being a part of the show, as well as her thoughts on the direction of the second season.

“I’m so moved that the project we made can be a source of catharsis and distraction and joy,” Levy told the podcast. “I think moving forward [on the show], it’s about how we move forward after loss.”

The show’s creator, Austin Winsberg, drew inspiration for the show from his late father’s journey with PSP. He recently spoke with Variety about the heartbreaking finale and his desire to stay true to his family’s experience.

It is still unclear if the show will be back for a second season, but the cast remains hopeful.
