Woodworking was a longtime hobby for Ken Brunner, until he developed FTD four years ago and decided he could no longer do the work.

Then, on a camping trip a few years ago, Ken became inspired to pull his tools out of retirement and revive his pastime. He now makes custom wooden bowls and donates the proceeds from their sale to organizations close to his heart, including AFTD.

Madison.com shares Ken’s story in a recent article that depicts his journey with FTD and the impact of his volunteerism. A former school principal, Ken spends much of his time working on the bowls and volunteering at a local food pantry.

Over the last year, he and his wife Cindy have hosted three open houses where they asked for donations of any amount for the bowls, resulting in $10,640 in proceeds, donated entirely to support AFTD’s mission.
