Anxiety is something that people living with FTD may experience on their journey. I have not been in the company of anyone, as of yet, that does not feel anxiety at one time or another.

Anxiety is a very uncomfortable emotion. While not intentional, anxiety makes me irritable and anxious, which causes unhealthy feelings. Recognizing the onset of anxiety helps to curb or calm my feelings before they flourish.

My self-care strategies include:
  • Removing myself from places or people that heighten my anxiety.
  • Taking my prescriptions and over the counter medications diligently.
  • Having supportive care partners, which helps me strive for balance.
Like almost everything about the FTD journey, the experience of anxiety varies by person. Recognizing the onset, and learning how to manage it, can make an enormous difference in your wellness.
