PBS Documentary Highlights Evolving Dementia Care

PBS dementia documentary

A PBS documentary recently shared by a Los Angeles television station explores how evolving methods of dementia care aim to help persons diagnosed continue to live full and meaningful lives by focusing on what they can do, rather than their limitations.

“Revolutionizing Dementia Care” visits residential homes specializing in dementia care around the country to highlight the impact of various models of person-centered care – from equine and horticulture therapies, to city-wide dementia-friendly education programs for area businesses – on both persons diagnosed and service providers. The hour-long documentary includes interviews with residents and staff, family members, and experts and educators in the dementia care field.

The documentary is available in full and is free to watch on the PBS website, where it first aired in September 2018.
