February 29th: 2016 Rare Disease Day

AFTD is pleased to announce its participation in Mediaplanet’s special print insert, Rare Diseases, an awareness campaign being published in USA Today’s New York, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Boston issues on February 29th, Rare Disease Day.

To mark Rare Disease Day, Mediaplanet enlisted help from The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) and other organizations, to increase awareness of the challenges that individuals and families impacted by rare diseases face, while establishing a more powerful and unified voice across the rare disease community. Rare diseases, a class of disorders and illnesses to which FTD belongs, affect 1 in 10 individuals in the United States alone and more than 350 million people globally.

Circulation of the special insert will yield an estimated readership of 750,000. A coalition of organizations, including the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and The ALS Association, will facilitate sponsored placements of a digital version via CNN, NBC News, Reuters, and more.

An announcement of the collaboration between AFTD and Mediaplanet is available here. To explore the digital version of the print insert, which will also be distributed during World Orphan Drug Congress in Washington D.C., April 20-22, 2016, please visit http://www.futureofpersonalhealth.com/
