AFTD Volunteers Wanted! If you are interested in helping to increase awareness of FTD and AFTD in your community, consider volunteering for AFTD’s community outreach project. We are currently looking for volunteers in the New England Region to conduct visits with facility providers. Memory Lanes: Bowling to Strike out Pick’s Disease – Casey Greemore and Nicholas Krapelin will host a bowling event at Merrimack Ten Pin in Merrimack, NH on July 21, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to benefit AFTD.  Casey’s mom, Lenora, was diagnosed with FTD in 2012.  Contact Casey to sign up or for more information at cgreemore25@gmail.com [5].

Shattered Dreams Mosaic Art [6]- Valerie Pierce of Salem, NH creates mosaic plates made from broken pieces of glass and porcelain. Val’s husband has FTD, and the plates represent the “shattered dreams” of the life they were meant to live. Twenty percent of the proceeds from her online sales goes to the AFTD.

The Connecticut Frontotemporal Dementia Foundation [7] – The Harvey family of Connecticut created a foundation to raise money for FTD research in memory of their father and husband, Kevin.  They are selling beads for charm bracelets [8] with “Harvey’s Hugs” on them; 50% of their sales will benefit AFTD.
