How Your Contribution Helps
Your contributions allow AFTD to make important advances in all areas of our mission. In 2010, $0.85 of each dollar donated went directly to research, education, support and advocacy. Your donations are what makes progress possible!
To make a cash donation, print the contribution form. (PDF). Please send the completed form along with your check to:

Support an AFTD Givezooks! Fundraiser
AFTD uses an online fundraising platform called Givezooks! to allow grassroots fundraisers to create their own web pages to raise money for the organization. Click here to view our main AFTD page.
Apply for an AFTD Credit Card
For those of you who would like to “give back” to AFTD, the organization has teamed up with Capital One to offer an AFTD credit card. A percentage of each purchase made with the card will be donated to AFTD by Capital One. Turn those everyday purchases into a meaningful gift to AFTD. Click here for program details. Credit approval required. Terms and conditions apply. Offered and serviced by Capital One, N.A. © 2011 Capital One.
Employer Matching Gifts
Your donation to AFTD may be worth even more if your employer has a matching gift program. Thousands of companies match their employees’ contributions to charitable non-profit organizations; they may also match contributions by retirees, spouses and directors as well. So ask your Human Resources department if there is a matching gift program where you work. Completing their brief form may double or even triple your dollars to AFTD.
Charitable distributions from IRAs (November, 2008)
Passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 makes it easier for owners of IRAs who have reached the age of 70 or older to make qualified charitable distributions directly from their IRA to charities such as AFTD. Under the new provision, distributions made in 2008 or 2009 are not subject to Federal income tax and can satisfy minimum distribution requirements. For more information, see your financial planner or tax accountant.
The Association is also able to accept donations in the form of securities. This can be a beneficial way of supporting the work of the Association while, at the same time, receiving some possible tax benefits. To find out more, or to arrange a transfer of appreciated securities from your brokerage account please contact us at email@example.com.
Use AmazonSmile and Designate AFTD as your Beneficiary
AmazonSmile allows you to choose AFTD as the charitable beneficiary of .5% of all your Amazon.com purchases. Simply sign on to your Amazon.com account, search and select “Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration” as your designated charity of choice, and Amazon does the rest!
Use Jatna.com as a Way to Shop Online
Jatna is a free, easy-to-use fundraising website that can serve as a new fundraising channel for your organization. Jatna was created by a father and son in Tucson, Arizona. For years, this family supported various non-profit causes and realized that many other people would like to do the same, if only they had the means or if it could be done on a budget – preferably for free. Then they created a novel solution: Jatna. Jatna generates free donations each time that shoppers buy online. Essentially, anyone who shops online can donate to AFTD, for zero additional out-of-pocket expense.
Here’s how Jatna works: simply visit AFTD’s Jatna fundraising page prior to shopping online (at Amazon, iTunes, OfficeMax, Target, Walmart, Travelocity, Starbucks, and 4,200+ other stores), and donations will be generated for your organization, for free. Thousands of online stores (like Amazon) offer commissions to websites (like Jatna) for bringing them internet shoppers (like you and your supporters). Rather than keeping the commissions generated from your online purchases, Jatna will share these commissions with your organization.
Here are the 5 steps of Jatna:
1. Visit www.jatna.com
2. Choose “Association for Frontotemporal Demetias” as your organization of choice
3. Enter a store name
5. You just raised money for AFTD!
Use Good Search as your Online Search Engine
GoodSearch: You Search…We Give! GoodSearch is an online search engine powered by Yahoo! that donates one penny to your charity of choice each time you use their service to search for something on the web (it works similar to Google). By going to the GoodSearch.com website and registering AFTD as the charity of your choice, one penny will be donated to AFTD each time you use GoodSearch to find what you’re looking for. Just imagine, if 1,000 people designate AFTD as their charity and search twice a day for a year, AFTD will earn $7,300 which will go toward more programs and research for families coping with FTD! Go to the www.GoodSearch.com website now to register, and then tell all of your friends and family to do the same!
